Back from the road
Posted by Coach Webster under GeneralWell it has definitely been a crazy month of travel, and I must say it is nice to be back home in Fort Wayne! Coach Paul, Coach Mann and myself were all in Mason, OH this week for the Summer Slam, and we really enjoyed the event. There were so many good players and good games. I just love watching good, competitive basketball. We are all getting so excited to make phone calls tomorrow so we can finally talk to the players we’ve had an opportunity to see.
Before I was in Mason, I spent the weekend covering an event in Fishers, IN which is near Indianapolis. I was excited for that one because my sister, Noelle, lives in Indy and I stayed with her. We’re both very busy with work most of the time, so it was great to be able to spend some time with her. On Saturday night, we went to see the new movie Step Brothers with Will Ferrell, and it was so hilarious! Afterwards, we went to eat at the Rock Bottom Brewery, which is one of my favorite places to eat, so it was a great night. Noelle and I also both have a Wii, and she taught me how to play Super Mario Galaxy. I am now addicted to it and try to play whenever I have a spare moment
Overall, I thought this July went really well. I was gone for 19 of the 31 days in the month, but it was totally worth it and I really enjoyed it. Last year was a little intimidating and frustrating for me because I had only been on the job for a month before I went out recruiting, so I was still learning about players and learning about recruiting. With a year under my belt, it was a great experience and I’m excited to see how the rest of the summer goes. But although it was fun being out, I am very happy to be back, mostly because I miss my players. They have been working so hard all summer, and I miss seeing them every day. I’m so anxious for everything to get started this season…
Well, it was a long drive home and my VERY OWN BED is calling my name. No more hotels for a while
