Meet Coach Mann

This is my first year as an assistant basketball coach at IPFW. I am currently in charge of team travel and film exchange, as well as player development and game preparation. I was born and raised in Chelsea, Michigan, and attended Bowling Green State University where I majored in supply chain management.
While at BGSU I was very blessed to be a part of a basketball team that finished 103-25 over 4 years, including 3 conference regular season titles, 3 MAC tournament titles, and 3 trips to the NCAA tournament. During my senior year we had NCAA Tournament victories over both Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt, sending us to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school and conference history! I wrapped up my career at BG finishing 2nd all time in career points (1,825) and third in career rebounds (911), along with being named co-MVP of the Mid-American Conference.
After finishing my career at Bowling Green I played professional basketball overseas. I spent 4 months playing in Luxembourg and 4 months playing in Portugal. It was an amazing experience, but at the same time it made me miss the intensity of college basketball, and when I arrived back home in May, I knew that I wanted to begin my career as a coach.
My family has and always will be an extremely important part of my life. My parents, Anne and John, still live in the house I grew up in. My dad works at Chelsea State Bank and my mom has officially retired, but remains busy with her involvement in the school board. My brother, Tim, is a senior at Northern Michigan University and my youngest brother, Stu, just began his freshman year at Western Michigan University.
While my immediate family is important, I also view family as the teams you are a part of. My BG family will always hold a special place in my heart, especially my five classmates that I was fortunate enough to spend 4 years with: Amber Flynn, Carin Horne, Liz Honegger, Megan Thorburn, and Julie Gompers. Now that the next chapter in my life has began at IPFW, I’m looking forward to being a part of my new Mastadon family and the upcoming season!
